Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami said on Thursday that he is open to the role of captaincy in Test cricket, but added that the idea of leading the Indian team is not on his mind at the moment.
Mohammed Shami was quoted as saying by India.com, ‘I am not thinking much about captaincy at the moment. I am ready for whatever responsibility is given to me. To be honest, who does not want to captain the Indian team, but whatever responsibility is given to me, I will contribute fully to it.
The pacer has been rested for the limited-overs series against India starting February 6 as Shami has been playing consistently for the past few months.
Shami said, ‘I am available for selection in all formats and if it happens then I am looking forward to it.’ India will play three ODIs against West Indies in Ahmedabad from February 6, while they will play a T20I series in Kolkata from February 16.
